SUCCESS
STORY: Cabot Trail 2005!
Hard to believe that this year was the 8th trip around the Cabot Trail!
It was still as beautiful as ever, and the weather was absolutely beautiful
for most of the trip and we certainly did not get the intense humidity
that we left behind here in Ottawa!
 |
|
Our
Superstars of 2005, were, from left to right Donna Polowin, Murray
Kronick, Judy Field, Marsha Woodgate, Kathryn McCallion, and on top,
Kevin Murray. |
There
were many highlights to the trip, but some of the most memorable were:
Dynamic Couple #1: Murray and Judy with their
extremely steady and consistent pedal stroke riding single file together
with the same easy flowing cadence.
Dynamic Couple #2: Marsha and Kevin with loaded
panniers making it to the top of each mountain smiling!
Princess Warrior Kathryn, who every time her
chain came off on a hill (which was more then once), would get off her
bike, go down the hill and start the hill again from the bottom. I think
she may be the only one to have done the trip twice at one time!
It was a splendid trip, with wonderful memories! Thank you to Marsha,
Kevin, Kathryn, Judy, Murray and Donna for making it such a huge success!
SUCCESS STORY TO BE:
Heather Pardon, Judy Field and Donna Polowin are all training for the
Disney Marathon this coming January. They are planning to walk the marathon
in under 7 hours! Training is already underway! Impressive Ladies! Can't
wait to see the photos!
Debra Neilson and Liz MacNeill are cycling around Tuscany this September,
and we certainly can't wait to hear all the details once they are back!
Barbara Troutman is cycling around Newfoundland this August, and has one
day where her group cycle over 200km!! Wow, 200km in one day!!
UPDATES
Donna
Williams started
with TJ FIT in November of 2001. She was recommended to us by her physiotherapist
Karen Gorden who works out of the Glebe. Donna has been so dedicated and
consistent with her program. She does her strength training 2-3 x a week
and also spins 2 x a week. She commutes in the summer months on her bike
and we are hoping to convince her to do the Cabot Trail next year.
Donna's hard work
and consistency has paid off. We just recently completed her six month
fitness assessment and she has seen significant gains. Her Cardiovascular
fitness has improved from Very Good to Excellent, her abdominal strength
has gone from Needs Improvement to Very Good and her lower body strength
has improved from Good To Very Good, not to mention her leg power that
has leaped (literally) from Fair to Excellent! Keep up that drive Donna,
you can do anything you set your mind to. Thank you for your dedication!
Bryan
Shailer has
started spinning in the Tuesday 7pm class. He finally gave in after months
of encouragement. Our hats go off to Bryan as he spins with us every Tuesday
on what is known as the "Hell Bike" You are truly an inspiration
Bryan, Keep up the Great Work! Next is CABOT TRAIL! Still a few months
left to persuade you to join us!
Denis Gratton met his 3 month goals in January and is on track
for his 6 month goals in April! Denis plans to join us this year for Cabot
Trail 2002. Your consistent effort is paying off, keep it up Denis!
Lesley Kennedy just completed her 3 month
evaluation and has improved her flexibility and upper body strength. Her
goal was to reach 27cm on the flexometer and she reached 33cm, surpassing
her 6 month goal! She also performed 25 push ups, up from 15. Keep up
the great work Lesley!
Carolyn McGraw completed her second running race
on March 16th! She completed her 5km run 8 minutes and 38 seconds faster
than her original 6.2km race pace in December! You are just so amazing
Carolyn! Her next goal is Cabot Trail 2002. Keep up the great work Carolyn!
Gabriella
Goliger recently completed her 3 month assessment
and improved her upper body strength and was able to do 25 push ups, up
from 18. She improved her flexibility, by reaching 31 cm on the flexometer,
up from 26cm, exceeding her 6 month goal of 30cm. She improved her abdominal
strength from good to Excellent and has lost 2 cm from her waist girth.
Absolutely Awesome Gabriella, consistency pays off!! This is the first
time that Gabriella has done a strength training program!!
Pat
Williams: Congratulations
to Pat Williams, who has been working out regularly, and with immense
joy and vigour, since late February. Pat, your hard work, determination
and focus is most inspirational. Keep dreaming of that Mediterranean cruise
in the autumn, where you will be running circles around your shipmates
and all members of the crew. Cheers from all at TJ's
